Create National Networking Day 2019, Cork
We invite you to a day of exchange and learning about artists’ practices, which operate in the spaces between socially engaged arts, pedagogy, and politics, in order to activate, stimulate, critique, and make change. The Networking Day promises to open up a space for us all to ask a shared and urgent question: how can collaborative forms of arts practice – engaging with the embodied experiences and knowledge of citizens – initiate and implement real civic agency and significant momentum for social change?

Fool Me Twice
Mart Studio Members Artist Show
Runs April 1st – 11th.
Opening Wednesday April 1st Fool’s Day – @ 6pm
Open Daily – 1-6pm [closed Mondays]
“Failure is unimportant. It takes courage to make a fool of yourself.” Charlie Chaplin
The role of the Artist can to be seen as to comment and reflect on society and the human condition. The ‘Fool’ was traditionally used in theatre to expose the truth in a farcical yet honest voice. The silent movie era produced the ‘Tramp’ character by Charlie Chaplin who became an advocate for the poor and disempowered. Since the motivation of the Fool is instinctual, and to defy social conventions, they are not culpable for breaches of those rules. Because of this, the Fool has often been given great relative freedom, particularly in speech. ‘Fool Me Twice’ is an exhibition of MART studio members who in this instance are playing a similar role to the fool by aiming to challenge the parameters of the socio-political boundaries we live within.
